I'll laugh my ass of when the Chiefs take Clausen and then he supplants that worthless Cassell, and becomes successful.

I actually hope not, but for this post, I think its appropriate.

I heard the Jets are going to draft a fork in the 7th round.

Yeah, what a bunch of shitheads, getting a top 10 corner and then a Super Bowl MVP for a half a bag of chips, then convincing a first ballot HOF RB to agree to being a backup. The Taylor move is anathema to us fans, but it's low risk high reward. What else? I don't like cutting Faneca, but other than that, all Tannenbaum's done this offseason is rob teams left and right for star players. How can you have a problem with that? Oh, I know, if you're on a high horse about "character" and other meaningless non-football cliches.

The jets didnt screw around thats for sure. I don't like Ladanian in place of Thomas Jones but the rest of the moves are hard to argue with.

How can anyone not love the Santonio Holmes deal? In his prime, signed for one year at pittsburgh money. If he sucks, you let him go. If he is what he has been, you have a topnotch receiver. There is NO RISK and incredibly high reward. This deal alone would be a successful offseason in my book. Throw in the other parts and it is a total slam dunk.

The Steelers dont regularly just give away great players coming off of their best season.

I guess it just depends on what your definition of "great" is. Pittsburgh has a history of letting players go via free agency after really good seasons. They have to. The owners aren't extremely wealthy outside of the team (relatively speaking of course) and they can't throw signing bonuses around to keep all of their good players. Leon Searcy?

They knew that Holmes was gone after next season anyway. He was going to be out four games and with all of the trouble with him and Ben, he was the perfect "example". The Jets were in the right place at the right time and willing to take the plunge. The jets really have nothing to lose. Contract is up and if he doesnt perform they can simply cut him. Where is the risk?

They aren't looking for him to be TJ. Shonn Greene is probably going to be the man this year with Tomlinson coming off the bench. That being said, I thought that they should have kept TJ. But I think that they could have done a lot worse than Tomlinson as a backup. I believe he still has a little left in those legs.

TJ didn't want to be a backup. I'd rather have Tomlinson as a willing backup than a disgruntled TJ. Also, people continually fail to recognize that TJ ran behind the best run blocking line in the NFL and Tomlinson ran behind the worst. That's going to make a huge difference, although the Jets' run blocking got weaker with the release of Faneca. Even at his best, TJ was always a product of his blockers. If he gets 3/4 of his '09 production with Kansas City, I'd be shocked.

It would be funny if Clausen is reunited with Weiss.

Very good point. I think the Chiefs grab him in the 2nd round because of this.

I don't think you can assume Weiss is in love with him because he coached him in college. It may be the exact opposite and Weiss may want to stay away since he has intimate knowledge of Clausen's shortcomings.

I don't know anything about it, but just playing devil's advocate.

Guess not. 48 picks in he finally gets taken by the Panthers.

A sneaking suspicion that character means a lot in this draft given the Rothlisberger debacle.
