Especially during TC time. Why would I want to know where Baffert is running his plethora of 3YOs. Why would anyone in California care about what Pletcher is doing with his. And certainly nobody outside of Arkansas cares about ANYTHING going on at Oaklawn.
Baffert n' Pletcher are National trainers. Most will care about what's going on anywhere there's a prep race. Most will care about anyone training a top 3 year old. I don't particularly enjoy listening to a Philly Jock that sounds 80 years old, but I guess some people do. That's a totally regional personality.

It's a like. I like the show.
I think this falls under the "all politics are local" column. Racing is made up of a bunch of regional players. We are a collective body in full, and Steve celebrates that.

So, you are the official arbitor of what does and doesn't interest listeners. One guest you don't like equates to the entire show being a regional thing that nobody is interested in.

Gotcha.

You need to go back to Caps Lock.

I just said I like the show. So, the entire show is not "a regional thing that nobody is interested in." No, I am not the official arbitor of what does and doesn't interest listeners. For me, some of the people interviewed aren't as interesting as the others. I have to wait to get those interviews over with. Then, I can hear something decent. So, it can get patchy. This bubbling over response to criticism is normal. A week later, one's defenses will recede, but the immediate response is almost always 100% defensive. I am looking forward to Monday's show. The show is best when the guy is lit up. So, game on. Maybe he will rant about what I said. There is no bad drama. That show is best when he's upset. People should listen on Monday.

Of course every guest isn't interesting ( DrugS is on occasionally for God's sake....not to mention me ).

Only Maury Povich's guests never disappoint.

It's pathetic. And as I said, felonious.

These situations are why we need a national commissioner and standardized rules.

Here in Montana we often refer to Fonner Park as 'the great race place'.......

Didn't the sun come out as they entered the track? NYRA like's to use words like, (soft-yielding-good-firm etc.) Am I missing something here? If the turf course is anything other than rock hard for foot-rattlers, we ain't running. Make sure these guys don't make their way up the coast for any jobs.

ahh.. good ol' Rillito. HAVE to handicap the races from the Paddock because the results are all based on who can still move all four legs..

fun to do head to head bets.. and get wasted of course.

Made some good $ there this year by doing just that. I really hope they don't turn it into soccer fields for the rich kids.

Suprised the conversation hasn't continued on about this:

http://www.drf.com/news/article/111140.html

"We tried to do everything in a timely manner, based on when we were first informed of the riders' decision not to go out on the turf," said Dunn. "The only other option was to cancel the race entirely, which wouldn't have been fair to all the owners, trainers, and other people who did prepare for and finally participate in the race."

Dunn said he is looking into the possibility of adopting a rule similar to that which exists in New York to cover the situation. That rule essentially makes all bets placed in multi-race wagers an "all" when a surface switch goes into effect.

"In my personal opinion, not having spoken to anybody else here in management or mutuels, this is an idea worth pursuing and I've already asked for a copy of the New York rule to be sent down for us to look at," he said. "Then it would be a matter of approaching the Division of Parimutuel Wagering to get the existing rule changed."

bump -- they did it again!!!

I saw the rain coming in and wondered why they didn't announce it a hour earlier ( before the Pick 4 Started ) . A blind man could have seen it was going to rain

And from listening to the feed (wasn't watching it the entire time due to work), they only announced scratches for race 8 before that. Several horses were scratched out of the following races, but were not verbally announced prior to the start of race 8, so you're stuck with post-time favorite if you spread in any of the final races. And still no scratches announced for the finale....tough to expect that they're ALL going to go in the slop?

What a mess. It's a f*cking joke, and I played the late pick-4...which probably makes me stupid, knowing that they could do this.

They also announced that the #7 was scratched in the last race. For a few minutes his number was off the possible double payoffs, before it magically appeared again...

Looks like track management has had enough.
Sounds like the jockeys didn't want to ride despite the super giving the go ahead.
