I didn't see it. Did she call a penalty on herself?

no - they came up to her , mid round

she claims she lost her balance and thatis why the club touched the hazard , the rules officals didn't see it that way

Said she had a white skirt on and didn't want to get it muddy.

What is grounding a club? Like she used it like a cane or something.

I have been known to fall in a sandtrap or two and I always use my clubs to get me in and out.

Anytime your ball is in a water hazard or bunker, you can't ground your club inside the hazard or bunker.

In your case, once you finally get the ball out of the bunker on your 4th attempt, then you can ground your club.

GFY. I am decent in the bunkers up here.

The bunkers in Florida were ridiculous, it was like hitting off of dust it was so 'fine' and thin. Up here you gotta smoke the ball out of traps for it to go anywhere.

kev wasn't the rule infraction after the shot ?? the club was grounded after she hit the ball and was trying to get out of the water hazard (still a penalty though)

The ball only moved a few inches out of the water in into the rough, but still inside the hazard line. Had the ball cleared the hazard line, she could have grounded her club without penalty.

I honestly do not think she knows the rules Kev. She had some lame excuse about not having her balance in the hazzard so the penalty didn't apply to her. Maybe Tiger can give her a few pointers......

I'm not a big fan of hers, and she did break the rule, so she gets the two shots, but for cryin' out loud why does the media eat her alive all the time? Probably other penalties were assessed/taken and not a blip on those. She needs a break from the media, but probably won't happen.

Was thinking the same but the parents are supposed to pieces of work that have earned every bit of ill will. She's a kid who was never allowed to be one.

Exactly! A lot of ill will from her constant efforts to play above LPGA level too. Nike/Media sold her way up the ladder, now she has to be under the microscope every event. And...........some LPGA rules officials behave like Nazi's.........

trying to talk her way out of an obvious penalty is not the right way to go about things in golf.. you take your penalty and move on. respect the rules!

I second your statement. If you cant abide by the rules dont be an embarassment to sport. Dont play it.

Here is a link to the video:

Wie also states that the rules of golf book isnt great reading material. Some spokeswoman for the golfing world.

Do you hate your life? You are pretty close to the most negative person I have ever been in some form of contact with.

no i know her reason was flimsy , she hit the shot and was fine until after the shot and she grounded the club then , i have seen people ground the club before they play the shot , i think this is where some of the confusion is coming from

If she was a student of Dave Pelz she would have known to close that clubhead a little more for that shot......I love his tutorial on how to hit it out of the water.

One year in a tournament (local city), I was in a 4-some as the 1st group off the tee. We are playing a 200 yd Par 3 4th hole where the green is wide. Hole was hidden behind the sand on the down slope towards the left side.

3 of us missed on the left side off the green. I was a little long but was able to see the hole. The other 2 were short on the left below the green, so they couldn't see. The 4th guy was on the green far right. I went 1st and knocked my chip about 2 feet short of the hole. I went to go mark, when the guy on the green decides to putt, and made an incredible long distant putt. One problem. You guess it. Pin was still in the hole.

There was 2 rules officials already watching, and I knew he was on the green. Incredible birdie to a bogey. He said he was just to make sure we speed up play. I told him, that you never played in this tournament before had you. I said we'll be waiting to tee off on #10. Sure enough it happened.

After that he was such jerk the rest of the way, critique every questionable drop from unplayable lies, and everything else.

He did not show up the next day for the 2nd round. Thank God!
