The last thing I was doing was insulting you by calling you Michelle Obama. What I had quoted from you was definatly something she would say.. thats the point... she sticks up for her husband (rightfully so) and you stick up for her husband. You both use campaign talking points.

If you want to take that as an insult I cant help you.

And also, since only 57% of Americans actually PAY federal income taxes.. how did 95% of Americans get a tax break?

I dont associate Pelosi with the Democratic party. She's like some weird socialist alien trapped in a botox'd body. She's beyond the craziness that I'll associate the Democratic party with..

? How is talking about a tax refund we actually received a "campaign talking point" ?

I guess I'll have to clarify that 95% of tax-paying Americans - mostly the middle class - got the tax cut.

And, sadly, Sarah Palin is the embodiment of the Republican party.

Hardly. She was a Gov in a fairly insignifigant state that no longer holds any position in the party. Pelosi is a long term, mean spirited, morally bankrupt, deeply embedded psuedo intellectual. Palin is more of a media story than anything. Pelosi is a reminder of a lot of what is wrong with this country.

LOL She was on the Republican ticket! She is the most recognizable Republican in the entire country. Like it or not- she, limbaugh and hannity are what people think of when they think of republicans these days.

Strange. I find Sarah Palin - the deliberate lies, the hate-mongering, the religious zealotism, that some people would put her one old heartbeat away from being President of the United States - to be a terrifying reminder of what is wrong with this country.

Something Chuck can dismiss as rabid liberal yammering ...

Quote:
"Obama Hatred - Large Portion Of GOP Thinks Obama Is Racist, Socialist, Non-U.S. Citizen: Poll"

A new poll of more than 2,000 self-identified Republican voters illustrates the incredible paranoia enveloping the party and the intense pressure drawing lawmakers further and further away from political moderation.

The numbers speak for themselves -- a large portion of GOP voters think that President Obama is racist, socialist or a non-US citizen -- though, when considering them, it is important to note that a disproportionate percentage of respondents are from GOP strongholds in the South (42 percent) as opposed to the Northeast (11 percent). Also note that this is a poll of self-identified Republicans, which means that independent Tea Party types are not included.

Nevertheless here are some of the standout figures as provided by Daily Kos/Research 2000:

* 39 percent of Republicans believe Obama should be impeached, 29 percent are not sure, 32 percent said he should not be voted out of office.

* 36 percent of Republicans believe Obama was not born in the United States, 22 percent are not sure, 42 percent think he is a natural citizen.

* 31 percent of Republicans believe Obama is a "Racist who hates White people" -- the description once adopted by Fox News's Glenn Beck. 33 percent were not sure, and 36 percent said he was not a racist.

* 63 percent of Republicans think Obama is a socialist, 16 percent are not sure, 21 percent say he is not

* 24 percent of Republicans believe Obama wants "the terrorists to win," 33 percent aren't sure, 43 percent said he did not want the terrorist to win.

* 21 percent of Republicans believe ACORN stole the 2008 election, 55 percent are not sure, 24 percent said the community organizing group did not steal the election.

* 23 percent of Republicans believe that their state should secede from the United States, 19 percent aren't sure, 58 percent said no.

* 53 percent of Republicans said they believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama.

During his appearance at the House Republican retreat last Friday, Obama explained that it was hard to forge bipartisan consensus when lawmakers were trashing his health care bill as a "Bolshevik plot". These poll numbers show that the gulf preventing bipartisan consensus extends well beyond health care.

How does a Republican lawmaker explain to his or her die-hard base that it is important to work on legislation with a racist, socialist president who is illegally holding office only because of the help of ACORN?

"This is why it's becoming impossible for elected Republicans to work with Democrats to improve our country," said Markos Moulitsas, founder and publisher of Daily Kos. "They are a party beholden to conspiracy theorists who don't even believe Obama was born in the United States, and already want to impeach him despite a glaring lack of scandal or wrongdoing. They think Obama is racist against white people and the second coming of Lenin. And if any of them stray and decide to do the right thing and try to work in a bipartisan fashion, they suffer primaries and attacks. Given what their base demands -- and this poll illustrates them perfectly -- it's no wonder the GOP is the party of no."

You want to hear something even funnier? In a recent gallup poll, 65% of republicans said that they would vote for her for president. 58% of the same poll thought that she was actually QUALIFIED to be president. Reports have it that Nascar was amongst those polled.

that's true. but i think perhaps chuck's point is that while sarah palin holds no office right now (and hopefully never holds one again) pelosi is very much in a position to affect policies.

Okay. I didn't read it that way but if that is the point (and I think you are being your usually generous self ) I still don't think she embodies the democratic party. The worst of what the democratic party can be? I will buy that. But while we have a democrat in the white house, he is the face of the party and embodies what the party should be about.

Palin truly embodies what the republican party has become. A sad caricature of old ways and thoughts that has little grasp on the realities of a changing world and continues to hitch its star to the bible belt.

Republicans need to re brand. This isnt an insult but merely a statement of fact. When one of your leading candidates is currently working for FOX news and looking clueless doing it, you need to rebrand.

Republicans REALLY need to rebrand and they should start by not pandering to the religious right. That is their downfall. Of course Bush didnt help but he pandered to the religious right and spent like a democrat AND got us in an unnecessary war.. man yeah he really screwed things up for the Red People.

Well, if you like polls...

http://politicalwire.com/archives/20...socialist.html

"A new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll of Republicans finds that 63% believe that President Obama is a socialist, compared to 21% who say he is not and 16% that are not sure.

The survey also found that 53% believe that Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama, with 14% who believe Obama is more qualified and 33% who said they were not sure."

The Daily Kos is not exactly known for being a right-leaning organization either...

But the poll was only asking REPUBLICANS what they thought. And if only 53% of your party thinks that one of your leading candidates is more qualified to be president than a guy that is a republican's nightmare, YOU GOT PROBLEMS.

Yeah, but the magnitude is different. The Republicans have a few paper cuts but the Democrats are hemorrhaging.
