First off.. we are the defending World Champions. You kinda have to be a good baseball team to win the World Series. If you want to believe they only won because every other team in baseball choked.. then whatever.

first off last year doesn't mean anything this year. your starting pitching was much better last year. if you put rivera on the rockies instead of street explain to me how you would have won against them this year .... you would have lost simple as that in the 1st round.... broxton gave away game 4 this year in the nlcs , rivera would not have , mentally the philies own the dodgers as posted here by someone who watches 162 la dodger games .....so who did the beat ? they beat the rockies closer 2 x in colorado , they beat a team that doesn't believe they can beat them ..... now the play a team that punches back and has a closer who can finish and where are they ....down 3-1


take nothing away from last year's philly team but this team is not as good , the NL east stunk this year , the mets packed it in in June , the braves and marlins were too young to compete , they caught a team that should have beat them but couldn't finish games and the beat a mentally fragile LA team who they dominate

i think girardi makes a mistake tonight by pitching burnett

i would have pitched gaudin tonight , save burnett for game 6 and pettite for game 7

this lineup is terrible know with melky out .... lee has to basically get 6 guys out .... gardiner , molina and burnett are all very weak against lee

burnett needs to be lights out tonight otherwise we go to game 6

Just because I didnt say something on here.. doesnt mean I didnt tell everyone and their freaking mom that Cliff Lee should be pitching game 4. And for all I know I may have even posted it on here.

And I DID post that if Lidge blows a save we will lose the series. He didnt blow a technical save but its was the same ****. I've said over and over and over I dont trust Lidge for a second, so STFU.

I talk crap on the Yankees cause I absolutely hate them. But I'll say stuff like cheater and A-fraud, but wont just make up stuff to make them look bad.

You are just making stuff up. Our starting pitching has been equal to last year minus Cole Hamels. Blanton is the same Blanton he was last year. Happ is a new guy who was BETTER than Myers last year. Pedro came in and did a WONDERFUL job. Cliff Lee.. well he's Cliff Lee. Jamie Moyer was the same last year.. gave up runs but won games because of the run support we gave him.

So Hamels is the only part of our starting pitching that has really suffered.

But we added a J.A Happ, Pedro Martinez and a Clifford Lee. That outweighs a Hamels breakdown.


And there is only one Mariano Rivera in the league. So to say "if Rivera was on the Rox or the Dodgers the PHils would have lost" is as much BULLSHIT as me saying if Rivera was a Philly we would be crushing NY right now.

It's been very strange the roles he has put Blanton and Happ into.. Guess its just playoff baseball and ya got to do what you got to do..

I know the reason he put Happ in the pen is because Happ has pitched out of the pen before and Charlie was more comfortable with Happ in the penn then Pedro in there...

It didnt make a whole lot of sense to me to not start our most consistant starting pitcher (happ) in the playoffs. What he went 12-4 or something like that, had the lowest ERA, great placement.

But Cholly is Cholly and he makes the calls.

because his main lefty out of the bullpen, Romero is hurt and he has no other good options. I agree he should have pitched Lee yesterday unless there was some reason that we dont know about. If they get to game seven, Hamels isnt a very appealing option right now. if Lee had gone yesterday he could have had Hamels on a short leash if they got to a game 7. Bringing in Mr Mediocre, Blanton isnt exactly like bringing Rollie Fingers in. As a matter of fact Happ may be the best option in game 7 though it would take a huge set to actually do it.

he can't send hamels out in a game 7 , he just can't do it , the team doesn't think they can win a game with him now

I dont think Charlie will. The players and Charlie have confronted Hamels about saying how he wishes the season was over because he's mentally drained. How can you send that guy out for possible game 7 of the world series?

Not gonna happen.

I think we'll see Happ with Lee and Blanton out of the bullpen if needed. Happ has done well in big games.. Problem is we need to get to that big game first. Lidge killed us on Sunday.

Honestly all the thinking, wearing dresses, being clutch means squat. What is important is that Hamels is clearly not pitching very well and hasnt pretty much all year probably because he is hurting. Before he became a star the guy was always known as a guy who cant stay healthy and probably isnt now. I dont care if he shaves his nuts on ESPN to show he wants the ball. If they get there they need to start Happ. He gives them the best chance of winning. At this point that is all that should matter.
