Silver Charm has a G1-place multiple G2 winner this year (Miss Isella), plus a fair number of SWs, including Preachinatthebar, Silver Highlight and Silver Impulse in Canada, etc., and a lot of mid level allowance/upper level claimers who earned a good bit of money, ie $100K+. But no 'headline horses' or big yearling sellers, so it was off to Japan for him. His mistake was being a top horse with an unfashionable pedigree, not a bad one (his sire was a G1 winner who had sired other G1 winners after all), and later maturing stock. And Silver Charm has sired winners in Japan already.

Indian Charlie is a calbred son of In Excess out of a Leo Castelli mare. You don't get anymore unfashionable a pedigree than that, so besides him being an insanely great race horse, how do you account for his success? Especially considering the truly awful books of mares he has had sent to him?
