I should say "new" because it's not like this is the first time they've tried to get this going. There's a renewed attempt to get the Conyers-Burton Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act through Congress (it didn't make it to the floor in time last year). Given that the House sub-committee is chaired by Rep. Conyers, I'd say it'll make it to the floor. Time to call, email, etc. your Representative if you'd like to see it passed. They might even decide to co-sponsor it which increases its chances.
What's next then,the ban on the slaughter of Beef? Then Pigs? Then we'll go after fishing and hunting?
