Racing Post...

Overdose a doubt for Haydock after setback
By Neil Clark4.39PM 5 MAY 2009

HUNGARIAN wonder horse Overdose may miss the Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock Park on May 23 due to a foot injury.

"He has an inflammation on his front left leg," said trainer Sandor Ribarszki. "We'll know more at the end of the week, but his run at Haydock is in doubt."

Owner Zoltan Mikoczy said that Overdose had worked well on Saturday but on Sunday evening he was found in his box standing on only three legs.

He added on Tuesday: "We called the vet straight away and his shoe was removed. He was given an injection and medication to reduce the inflammation.

"The treatment will take one or two days to be effective and we will be in a better position then to make a decision about future running plans. We have sent the entry off to Haydock as today is the deadline for the race".

Mikoczy said the cause of the problem is still unknown, though the inflamed foot is the same one from which Overdose lost his plate during his latest spectacular victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest last month.

In addition to the Temple Stakes at Haydock, Overdose is also entered in two races at Royal Ascot in June - the King's Stand Stakes and the Golden Jubilee for which he has been installed as favourite - and the July Cup at Newmarket.

Overdose was among 27 entries revealed for the Group 2 event along with Saturday’s impressive Palace House Stakes winner Amour Propre.

The Budapest Bullet out of Royal Ascot - such a shame. I was looking forward to it. We may get Sacred Kingdom instead though..

It makes J J's job easier now

I am disappointed he's not coming over, but I like J J more

I liked the chances of JJ but with Sacred Kingdom now looking like coming over, he'll destroy the rest on quick ground, he is a machine..

People will think Sacred Kingdom will have won in a few weeks time, but then they will use a super slow motion replay and see J J sprinting away from the field with ease.

We might have to have a match bet on this one so No Chance (ground permitting)?

Ground and draw, without a doubt!

I'm a firm believer that (as long as De Kock hasn't ruined him) JJ is infact the best sprinter I have seen since Silent Witness

I saw a replay of him winning a Gr1 in South Africa on the bridle. I know he probably didn't beat anything like Sacred Kingdom, but it was a high class field, and he made them look like selling platers.

I do like Sacred Kingdom, but he's beatable. JJ could just burn them up early.

I hope they don't run him in the Kings Stand though, I'd like to see him run in the Golden Jubilee and then the July Cup. Mainly because I think Amour Propre is very, very good over five furlongs.
