God you scared the crap outta me..... I thought it was gonna be about Kieren Fallon. Whew.

I had never heard of him... looked him up, one win (Baden Baden). No idea... one to watch? I didn't know a single name in the field.

Fill us in!

Don't know what was behind him but THAT was impressive at what I am guessing was about 7 f's.

Scurlogue Champ 07-07-2008 03:09 AM

He looks salty for sure

magic_idol 07-07-2008 05:32 AM

Looks more suited to Dirt than turf but without knowledge of the opposition very hard to distinguish

Its lock like that horse name DIABOLICAL, remember his first races in I dont remember wich country, and he went this year to DUBAI and did nothing.
Sometimes in ship races and on other minor cuality, you may fine wath it seam to be a super horse, but depends against how his is racing.
I don get to much excited for this one. Sorry :o

Hungarian star sprinter set for stiffest test

Neil Clark

HUNGARIAN sprinter Overdose, whose unbeaten exploits have led to comparisons with the legendary Kincsem, will bid to extend his winning sequence to ten in Sunday's Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden.

Sandor Ribarszki's Starborough colt, who has won all of his nine starts by an aggregate of 85 and a half lengths, recorded his latest victory in the Group 3 Lotto-Trophy at Hamburg at last month – despite not being at his best following a hoof problem.

Connections have said that after Sunday's 6f event, the three-year-old will head to Longchamp for the Prixde L'Abbaye on October 5, where he will bid to become the first-ever Hungarian trained winner of the race.
However he fares on Sunday, Overdose has quite a way to go before he emulates Kincsem, Hungary's star of the Victorian era who wentunbeaten in 54 races.

Overdose faces his most testing assignment to date on Sunday, when he will face a maximum of eight rivals in the €70,000 race, including three British-trained entries, all of them Group 3 winners, namely the Michael Jarvis-trained Ancien Regime, Intrepid Jack (Hughie Morrison) and Starlit Sands (Sir Mark Prescott).

Also in the field is the German-trained dual Group 3 winner Abbadjinn who finished second to Overdose at Hamburg last month, and the French-trained Group 3 winner Mariol, who finished third in the Hamburg race.

I was speaking to some German friends of mine at Newmarket last Friday and I asked them about him. To be honest, the report was quite downbeat. He looks impressive in his races but he is yet to beat any serious horses by all accounts.

His wins are likely to be as good as he is.

I hope he runs well in this Gr2, as it's the race my father's horse won a few years ago.

brockguy 08-26-2008 06:33 PM

yeah, he has been making a few noises over here - Its very difficult to know exactly what to make of his form - Germans are hardly known for their sprinters, but he is winning them by good margins and has yet to be tested really. We've already had a Spanish trained winner at Royal Ascot, why not a Hungarian trained winner at the Arc meeting..

He won!

cowgirlintexas 10-05-2008 10:25 AM

Runs back in about an hour..
"Ran" earlier in 54 seconds :p
We'll see if they re-enter him.

cowgirlintexas 10-05-2008 10:36 AM

No more live feed from France :( Anyone that can see the race let me know if Overdose wins.

brockguy 10-06-2008 10:13 AM

I was standing beside a fair few Hungarian fans all dressed up in Hungarian flags and they went crazy when Overdose "won" the Abbaye not realising that it was a false start. Then he was declared a non runner for the real race!! They must have been shattered

11 straight for Overdose, won a G3 in Italy by 10 lengths.. This guy is defo G1 class and up there with the best sprinters in Europe..

Thanks for the update..I was wondering when he was going to run again.

brockguy 11-16-2008 03:48 PM

it was such a shame about the circumstances of his last race, as he would have been difficult to beat from the front that day, on softish ground that we know he loves. On quicker ground, he may find it a bit tougher, but he does have oodles of class that would carry him a long way..

cowgirlintexas 11-16-2008 04:31 PM

I agree..I was dissapointed as well with what happend in his last on Arc Day..Please keep us posted if/when he runs again.
