Tennis is different. You rely on strength to hit the ball as hard as you could. In golf, you can rely on strength, but if you are really, really accurate you can make a living as well. Michelle Wie hits the ball about as far as Fred Funk does. Would you find it strange if Fred Funk won a PGA Tour tournament? He's done so enough times with his average 250-260 yard drives. The problem with Michelle Wie is that she is trying to hit it 300 yards in the regular PGA tour, when she should play within herself if she's trying against the men and just hit it 250 down the middle. I really don't think it is impossible for Michelle to be an average player on the PGA Tour. The statistics on women playing golf on the PGA Tour aren't big enough to make a conclusion on whether women can do it. Who has tried? 5 or 6 people? There needs to be a bigger sample than that before you can draw a definite conclusion that no woman can do it. And if any woman can do it, it will be Michelle, as she isn't afraid of the criticism that comes with playing on the PGA Tour. |

Besides that, I like the fact that Michelle flies in the face of conventional wisdom by having goals beyond the LPGA.
She has her dream of being on the PGA Tour, and whether or not she fails, I applaud her for trying. She doesn't let anyone tell her that she's not good enough, and in that sense, she already beats all the other women in my book as none of them think they are good enough. |

Fred Funks short game is only a billion times better than Michelle's. It is VERY impossible for her to be an average player on the PGA Tour. Truth be told she would struggle to be average on the Nationwide Tour. I have spent an awful lot of time around tours and seen some really incredible players. Michelle has the potential to be very very good on the LPGA Tour. People don't realize the disparity between the mens and womens tours. I can comfortably say that in my best years, I could have made a very nice living playing against the caliber on the LPGA. I came close to qualifying for a Nationwide event ONCE. Best I ever did was make a cut on the Hooters Tour. ![]() |

I'm not saying she is good enough at the immediate moment, but I don't believe it's out of the realm of possibility in time if she worked on it. |

No deficiancy, but she doesn't have enough years left on this earth to improve her short game enough to be even average on Tour. The PGA Tour money list from spots 150-250 are filled with guys with the exact same kind of game as Michelle...hit it a long way, hit it solid, but have NO short game whatsoever Gales mentioned Michelles showing in the LPGA majors a few years back. There are guys on the Nationwide Tour that could win the Grand Slam in a single year on the LPGA. The games simply are not comparable. |

Drive for flash and putt for cash right Kev? 2 and 3 putting holes will ruin your score just like missing the green on your 2nd and 3rd shot.

Don't get me wrong here, Michelle is obviously very talented. I truly think she was steared in the wrong direction very early on in her career. Yes, she almost made the cut a few years ago at the Sony Open, but that was on her home course that she knows like the back of her hand. Other than that, she has performed poorly in other PGA events she has played in.
