As far as the Jeff Garcia type is concerned, not a fan of that type of approach. But, Leftwich, behind a good offensive line, might be the best option. They should have grabbed Chris Simms when they had the chance.
So no to Garcia, but yes to Leftwich and Simms? Explain.

ainge is also on the jets roster. i laughed today when they played the clip where lemons said he should get the start because he worked hard the last few years-you don't get to start due to work ethic, you have to be capable as well. whether he proves himself good enough to be #1 or not is the question...then again, there's capable and there's better than the other guys on the team-there is a difference.
at any rate, favre did the jets no favors by coming and playing for a year as far as their QB situation is concerned.

If you think you are close to being a Super Bowl team, Garcia is a no brainer. Doesn't look like the Bucs are going to try to re-sign him.

Bigs, what do you think of McCown for the Bucs? I'm thinking he could turn out to be a surprise. His re-signing all but closes the door on Garcia, right?

That's the speculation, that Garcia is gone. I liked him. He protected the ball unbelievable well this year, until the Chargers busted his nose open and he threw two picks quickly after that.

McCown said he wouldn't re-sign unless he was assured of having the opportunity to compete for the starting job. He got the assurance and signed. I would be shocked if he wasn't the starter.

I think the Bucs are trying get younger. Under Chucky/Allen all they did was get older every year.

I don't think Garcia has the arm strength to succeed in the Meadowlands. I'm not sure about Simms but Leftwich still has a big arm and played pretty well in limited action. He would be my choice behind that O-line.

Garcia, at best, would be a one year option. Leftwich, who I'm not a huge fan of, MIGHT be a better option. His problem with the Jags was holding on to the ball too long, taking big hits, and getting hurt alot. His overall performance wasn't awful. Simms is a complete guess, you could bring him in to compete for the starting job, certainly wouldn't just hand it to him. I'm OK with giving Clemens or Ratliff the chance to start this season. It just seems based on what I have read that neither has the full backing of Schottenheimer, who would obviously know them best.
I guess it's mostly the known (Garcia), versus the unknown. Also, I don't think it's good for a franchise to change QB's on a yearly basis.

I agree with you about Thomas Jones. He was on the radio to promote his "music", was probably caught a bit off guard with the questions, and his words were absolutely taken out of context.

i can't blame a team the likes of minnesota for attempting to get him. he's still better than a lot of other qb's out there.

You can't blame a guy for teams saying they'd be interested if there was a chance.
