Seems a tad high. I disagree that it's not an exciting matchup, and I'm glad I actually have a rooting interest in that I can't stand the Steelers.

First of all, this is a super bowl and ratings are immune to locality of the respective entrants. Secondly, even if it did make a difference, the pittsburgh fan base is hardly confined to western pa. They are indeed a "public team" with hardcore fans across the country. Thats why I always chuckle when i hear people talking about how well pittsburgh fans "travel". Sure, that may be true for games played on the eastern seaboard but do you really believe 15k steeler fans would travel to Oakland for a regular season game? Or is it simply more likely that they have a bunch of fans out west that will converge on oakland when they make it into town every couple of years?

Who cares?

I'm always amazed at the ratings talk for every big game or series. The only people that should care are the people selling ads for the networks and the networks themselves.

Atleast I don't live in that freezer. I don't see any entries for Hawthorne or Balmoral anywhere. Could it be it ain't even fit for horses right now? I'm just saying this is a battle between the 13th biggest metro area, and the 22nd biggest metro area. If it wasn't for betting, then who would really care?

As I wouldn't want to live in SOCAL if I had to...personal preference my friend.

And Phoenix by itself is the 5th largest city in the US...That doesn't seem like the sticks to me.

I'm with you on Arizona, but I think the Warner and the cinderella angles will be beaten to death, and you know people love that stuff.

the same amount of people who watch the superbowl will watch it again this year. Doesnt really matter who is in. 75% of the people who watch it watch for the commercials and the party's. The hard core football fans are gonna watch it also... there not going to miss the biggest game of the season because they dont have a rooting interest.

Its not like the World Series or NBA finals with multiple games. EVERYONE watches the superbowl!

Hell no. My level of hatred for the Pats has never and will never be reached for any other team. I hate the Pats 364 days a year (I take a day off to reflect on my hatred). I still don't like the Steelers.

Um, no. I don't like any team that mysteriously has "fans" all over the country despite playing in a relatively insignificant city. Steeler fans who aren't from Pennsylvania are like Cowboy fans to me. It's almost as if they just started rooting for them because the Steelers were successful when they were young! That would be like me rooting for the Bulls. Plus Hines Ward is a douche and Roethlisberger is a moron.

LOL. This is a classic rant! I love it.

One thing about the Steelers though is that there was a time when many Pennsylvanians moved around the country as steel workers. That can explain part of the reason why there are so many steelers fans in places you wouldnt expect to find them.

In fairness, what if the steelers were good when you were young and you stayed a fan all the way through?

There are just a lot of pretty basic forms of life. You give them choices like Steel players, or Cowboy players.....They can't resist that.

It doesn't matter. I don't agree with rooting for a team you have no other connection to just because they're good. It's lame to me. Obviously if people grew up near Pittsburgh and then moved away, that makes sense, but I'm talking about the people born in raised in somewhere like Nevada who are "die hard" Steeler fans.
