There is not enough upside in the world to change the biggest downside that there is. The Synthetic Pro Ride Surface.
By the way, while it was pouring in Jersey last year. Wasn't a large section of California on fire?

They generally don't have to worry about rain for the BC at Santa Anita because the Cup is run during "fire season." The monsoon usually starts around Christmas, followed by "mud season" when the canyons collapse because the fires killed all the trees. If the frogs and locusts show up, I recommend leaving...
Last time I was in Cali for the Cup, the Malibu fires were so bad I could see the smoke from Santa Barbara when I took a midweek overnight trip.

The upside for me is I won't be at all concerned with losing much money on the BC races this year or next...

The upside is, as always, with huge numbers of fairweather fans and curious onlookers betting into the pools there will be tremendous value to be had. Especially if the more serious students of the game can find an edge with this new "fireproof" surface. Bahahahaha! |
