If they want to save some money and fire a couple of writers, that is bad enough, but there is no excuse for not showing the entries or results.

I cancelled my suscription a few days ago and I have gotten that paper my entire life. I cancelled just out of priniciple. They are just so arrogant that they would have the nerve to not even show the entries or results. It's as if they don't even care what their readers want. They just think they can do whatever they want and the readers won't even notice. They told me that they have had a ton of complaints about it too. It's amazing that they wouldn't reinstate showing the results and entries immediately if they are getting complaints and cancellations.

The Los Angeles Daily News stepped up its coverage of racing as a result of the LA Times move. They did a nice article on the opening day of the Del Mar meet. Apparently, half of the people cancelling their subscriptions recently have cited the removal of covering horseracing as a reason for cancelling.

The Pasadena Star does a nice job covering Santa Anita, and I enjoy the writing in the North County Times in covering Del Mar.

The Los Angeles Times is owned by the same guy who own the Chicago Tribune...and for now the Chicago Cubs. Chicago real estate magnate Sam Zell bought the Tribune and its companies last year.

Newspapers are moaning about low sales and low ad sales, but all they know how to do is cut costs. I haven't seen one example of an attempt to increase quality or alter focus.
