Turf racing involves way more luck and trips. Dirt racing traditionally favors the best horse. Not as big of fields and less trouble. Anyone who thinks that you have to be soooo lucky in a turf race is kidding themselves.

yeah, i think so...a lot of people thought she'd have won had she gotten the right ride. but i wish i had a dollar for every time someone blamed a loss on a crap ride, i could retire.
i can really only think of one spell of bad luck really costing a turf horse. and that was gary stevens hitting the turf right at the finish line when storming home decided to take an abrupt detour.
