I am going to sit on the Pippen/Oden comparsion, I was never a fan of Pippen, thought he was a douche bag thus I probably devalue him, especially defensively

Cartwright shot 52% from the field for his career and 77% from the free throw line for his career. Those numbers are pretty darn good.

HE WAS 7'2 and didn't have to jump to dunk because his knuckles dragged when he walked. 52% aint **** when you are that big.....

Oh good lord. You really have no clue do you. Wilt (The greatest center to ever play the game) shot 54% from the field in his career. Just because you are tall doesnt make it any easier.

All Cartright did was block hook shots and dunks. Wilt had face up game, at least from what I have seen on ESPN Classic

Seriously, you really have no idea what you are talking about. Cartwright only avg 0.6 blocks a game. He has a great turn-around J and played entirely with his back to the basket. He would do the turn-around j or would face up his man.

9-1 is not too bad at all. Phoenix and Dallas arent really playing all that well. The Spurs may not have it this year. New Orleans is the leader of the west--imagine that. So $20 on the Lakers at 9-1 might be a good bet.

I am really impressed with Bynum. No wonder they didnt want to give him up for Kidd. And I agree with you, if Bynum comes back healthy then they are the team to beat (in the west).

Liking the Lakers is one thing we agree on. I can't remember, are you a Niners fan as well?

Anway, Lakers should be the favorite in the west now for sure.

He was not 7'2". He had a nice face up jumper from the baseline.

The NBA should step in and disallow this trade. It's absolute robbery. I am sick over this. As much as I hate the Lakers, I don't want this. This move will assure that they stay in the playoff hunt while Bynum is out, which wasn't guaranteed to happen in the West. How the team will perform when Bynum is back remains to be seen though. They obviously have to be considered one of the favorites in the conference. But I'm not so sure how these guys fit together. Will Gasol's presence stunt Bynum's development? I think it could. As much as Odom is criticized, I think it's important for him to play a prominent role on this team in order for them to have any real success. Having Gasol will mean the ball is out of Odom's hands more than I think it should be. Gasol has never struck me as the kind of player that can play within an offense if he's not the focal point. Also, as much as Kwame Brown sucked, the ONE thing he was good for was being a big body to defend against some of the big guys in the West. Now that's gone and I'm not sure that is a role Gasol can play. Overall though, this won't hurt the Lakers. I think it cements their spot in the top three in the conference. And finally, we'll get a chance to see if Kobe Bryant can indeed LEAD a team to a title. He's got a team now that if he's capable, they can do it. Now, we'll se if the comparisons to Michael Jordan are legit. I don't think they are.
