Cool Coal Man? He's fine. He didn't scratch from Tampa for any physical reasons. He may not prove to be a Derby horse but he'll get his chance to show whether or not he belongs.

Nah, I mean developmentally, not physically- especially given Mineshaft took so long to develop. Seems like he's still growing, putting it all together. But you never know with these 3yos... Sam F Davis likely for him?

I love Mr. Zito, and I pull for him, but frankly it seems like he's afraid of huge success. I love his horses. I just hope that he gets them in the hunt in a big way.

That's not true.

And, by the way, he's already hugely successful.

The guy wins races all the time and he is afraid of success.......I just don't get this board sometimes.

It is ridiculous that hard on that some people have for him. The guy is great for the game (personality-wise), he wins races, and does right by horses and from all accounts, his people. WTF else do people want this guy to do?

We all have our own pet peeves. He's my good friend, so obviously I defend him, but I'm sure there are trainers I don't like that others do. Doesn't make me right and them wrong. I argue with Byk all the time about trainers he likes that I don't. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.

I don't think Oaklawnfan was being critical. But I also don't know why he believes Zito is afraid of success. Doesn't make sense to me. I would say that most trainers fear the opposite....lack of success.

I thought it was great to see the BC led by guys like Zito and Baffert. Nearly an old-school feeling to it...
