I think he's a nice horse who was born at the right time. I credit him for his longevity, at a reasonable level, but not for having any sort of extraordinary talent. Frankly, it is a condemnation of turf racing in America that he was far and away our best horse last year.

Fair point- and I agree on the longevity/right time thing, but I have a bad feeling THIS year will be even more of a condemnation of the turf division. Seriously- is there ANYONE out there? The 3YOs turfers were mediocre at best, and the older horses couldn't hold EC's jock. Ripe for some Euro imports, really.

Champs Elysees is the only bright hope, especially with Barclay Tagg getting upset about Showing Up's workouts. At least CE will be able to go up to 1 1/2 miles with no issue.

It would be amazing though if Better Talk Now could pick up another Grade I win.

It's been so long since the American turf division was anything special and at least English Channel ran four excellent races in this country then beat the highly acclaimed turf superstar Dylan Thomas handily when it counted.

I love the horse, but he's probably done. His injury is pretty tough to come back from. I wouldn't be surprised to see BTN win another one this year, he's probably the defacto best? Einstein maybe?

The old " I wish I owned him " line of defense?

That's the line that people use to defend a horse against opinions that they know are correct....but wish weren't. It's just like telling people that have reservations about synthetic surfaces that they don't care about the horses. It's a smokescreen.....and a lame one at that.

Funny, I would have thought that someone who recognized true talent like yourself, being that you named yourself after the magnificent Theatrical, would understand real talent when they saw it. I guess I was wrong. Theatrical would be disappointed.
