"Beyer on Speed" 2007 ed. pg. 134:

Points are subtracted according to this lengths-behind chart for four furlongs:

Margin Points
hd - 0
nk - 1
1/2 - 1
3/4 - 2
1 - 3
1 1/4 - 4
1 1/2 - 5
1 3/4 - 5
2 - 6
2 1/4 - 7
2 1/2 - 8
2 3/4 - 8
3 - 9
3 1/4 - 10
3 1/2 - 11
3 3/4 - 11
4 - 12
4 1/4 - 13
4 1/2 - 14
4 3/4 - 14
5 - 15

oops, but those are the 5 fur beaten lengths chart

Naw, that's 4f - I rechecked and compared to the 5f in the appendix. That's what's there for 4f. The 5 furlong chart starts with neck-1, 1/2-1, 3/4-2, 1-3, 1 1/4-4 ....

Did you remember to apply track variant?

Okay, someone else w/ "Beyer on Speed", find your book and help me out, here ? (so I know I am not going crazy) - page 134, 4 f chart, appendix p. 235 5f chart.

Guys, I'm looking right at it

You could very well be right that is printed in the book. I know with 100% certainty that those values posted are the ones used for 5f races. Perhaps Beyer is using the same one for 4f pace calls. I don't remember that part, though it would seem strange to do so.

4 f beaten length are different than 5 f beaten lengths. i believe it is something like 1 length is 3 prs at 5f and 4 pts at 4 f. i know the 4 f beaten lengths chart is in one of his books
