they just played a clip on tv from 1999 showing the senator talking about how bill clinton was a naughty boy, and perhaps a very very bad boy, in reference to all the lewinski mess. this guy is a piece of work.
he is a us senator and he pleads guilty to the airport charge but seems that his biggest outrage is that he was called gay. "i am not gay and never have been gay!". i didn't know it worked like that.

he says he pleaded guilty to make it go away!! how stupid does he think people are? boy did that plan backfire. so long senator...its only a matter of time.

Those who have a need to de-humanize others always seem to fall victim to their own demons...I call that karma, someone else may have another name for it...in any event, Republicans and Tv evangalists seem to have a difficult time walking their walk...must be sad to hate what you are so much that you not only have to deny it but condemn others....

i mentioned this very thing the last time, I think it was the guy from Loiusiana who was preaching family values and then turned out to be on the madams list. oops.

i'm trying to imagine how these people reconcile it, how they live with themselves? doesn't it eat away at them, preaching values during the day, then leaving the spouses and cruising for sex at night?

it does seem that preachers and other moral do-gooders seem to have the most problems.

I think the deity's post went right over my head.
But you got the inside scoop.

I would say genetic penetrance of some "disorder" that involves behavior is a very tough thing to get a handle on.
Good to know you got the sliding scale thing down so cold.

from what i've read over the years, the most virulent homophobes actually have homosexual tendencies. that only fuels their need to attack it--a sense of shame, self-hatred, denial, etc...feel bad for the guys' wife, she probably never had a clue. and how can anyone expect him to come clean, he's been lying to his nearest and dearest, how could anyone else think he'd be honest with them?

omg you're kidding, right?! lol

yeah, don't you hate people who can't make up their minds??

i just think it's a shame that some people feel the need to be sneaky and dishonest--and for what? all i can figure is someone did a number on some of these people while they were growing up, and they aren't true to themselves. you'd have to think it would lead to a lifetime of misery and feeling that you were pretending all along.

the joke is there are no straights or gays. it isn't an on/off switch. everyone is somewhere on a sliding scale.

it's a dirty little secret though. don't tell anyone.

first poster to deny this is 60/40.

You're spot-on. The other thing that really bothered me is the way that during his press conference, he spoke of being gay as if it could be the worst possible part of this. The tone of his voice was disgusting.

That being a criminal for soliciting an undercover cop for homosex? Not so bad. The possible end of his career and losing the support of those who have supported him in the past? No biggie.

Being called gay? How dare you!

The Smoking Gun has the guilty plea, and it's highlighted to show that the judge will not accept a guilty plea from someone who insists they are innocent. He claims to have not retained counsel, but I generally don't need a lawyer to read such a simple sentence to me and explain what it means to me.

This guy is an absolute piece of work.

I generally tend to believe that the only people who are obsessed with gay sex are gay people. So all these people who grandstand to make sure that everyone knows they think it's an abomination and disgusting and unnatural, generally come off as pretty gay to me.

that's what i was trying to say. he has no problem with being a pervert who stares at men in the restroom stall, or plays footsie with or waves at the guy in the next stall, but damnit don't you dare call me gay!

and now he is trying to say he was innocent? why doesn't he go back then and fight the charge? I heard some discussion on tv last night and the consensus was that if he wanted to go to trial to clear himself and the prosecuter agreed to it, that a judge would allow the case.

he is trying to have it both ways, i'm innocent but just plead guilty to make it go away. what a bozo.

Yeah exactly, that's the thing that I find the most remarkable about this whole saga.

great moments in political speech;

1960's, JFK "Ask not, what your country can do for you..."

1980's, Reagan "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall"

1990's Clinton "I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinski"

2007 Senator Craig "I am NOT gay"
