I dont think Tiger is half the horse Anew is or even remotely close to being considered a top sprinter off those 2 dream trips he had. This coming from a huge Jerken's fan. Silver Train is a much better horse and will at least make a race of it. That race Tiger threw in last time was an utter mess.
Tim I really don't understand how you view races. Mess? he ran 2nd to a very nice horse. I just don't see that as a mess in any way.

I knew he wasnt a champ and this is why we cannot say Silver Train is a champ. He has looked great at Belmont, but he will never be a champ. And we shouldnt call him the "returning champ."

Lets think about this for a moment, Silver Train barely beats Sun King and Sun King comes back and loses. Maybe the Met Mile wasnt a very good race. Silver Train is an good horse at Belmont, anywhere else he is sub-par.

Time to go for a walk and then look at the carryover at Belmont and put the finishing touches on it. When the negativetown guys start injecting venom its time to take a breather.

Sun King's loss came in a 4 horse field with no pace and where the winner ran a hole in the wind, in addition Sun King was set for a regression off a lifetime top effort on the numbers. Oh wait, there I go using logic and common sense instead of emotion or how I feel about a horse or his connections to analyze a situation. Wrong place.

Logic is good. I like logic, but Sun King regressed, usuing logic it could be said that Silver Train will regress from his last start. Good horses will overcome obstacles such as small fields and no pace. I like Silver Train, I really do--but lets use logic and say this is a horse like Dont Get Mad--only runs wells at one track.

Not sure if you saw, but DGM ran like a monkey in his last start at CD.

Silver Train obviously only runs well at Belmont. But he's a much better horse than DGM.

Yes Silver Train is a great horse. I loved it when he came roaring down the lane in the BC Sprint. I had him and Fog over all in an exacta. My favorite BC Sprint was in 2004 when Speightstown came rushing up the inside to get the win. I loved Speightstown and had a bundle on him to win. However, I didnt have him singled in my pick 6 ticket.

Silver Train is a good horse at Belmont? Wow, are you sure about that? With G1 wins in the BC Sprint and the Met Mile you will only go out on the limb and say GOOD?

Who shall we call the returning champ then? Lost in the Fog? a horse that got cooked in the BC sprint by Silver Train.

In my mind, right or wrong, last years winner of the BC sprint is the reigning sprint champ. I don't care who won the Eclipse.

Furthermore it was just a throwaway expression. Sun King almost got the ST in the Met but one mile is a little stretch for ST. He dueled with someone through fast fractions in the Met and still had some stamina to hold on.

Outside of Belmont he is so far unproven, but so what.
I guess I just don't get it sometimes the things people choose to focus in on and make a debating point. The thread was started with the idea that "Hey look at this race. It ought to be a good one". It hardly seems a controversial
premise.

Fog won the eclipse award for top sprinter--therefore he is the Champ like it or not. I dont agree with it, but I didnt vote.

It is going to be a good race. I am excited to see it. Two Grade I wins does not make for a great horse. There are only a few horses I consider great. The term great is throw around way way too much.

I hated Speightstown and he cost me a good-sized score, as I had the Pick 4 closing into Kela and Midas Eyes. Bailey waited way too long to move on Kela and Speightstown screwed me.

Yeah I think Bailey waited a little late. But Speightstown got a great ride from Johnny V.

Yes I did. I shouldnt have written "great." I used that term to loosely in this case. I do apologize.

Unlike all the other sensitive sissies on here, I'm not gonna throw a hissy fit. Thanks Gander.

You had me scratching my head looking through Saturday's entries!

Only busting your chops. Going to be a great race.
