Acid test for Anew

Gets to face Silver Train on his favorite track this Saturday. Gets five pounds from him though. Now we can see what this dude is really made of.

Looking forward to this one. Should be a good race. I was impressed w/ Anew. You wouldn't happen to know where I could scoop the PPs for this race for the rock bottom price of free would you?

Wait a few hours and they'll be up on DRF for free, since it's one of their races of the week.

I am NOT a SIlver Train fan. Most inconsistant horse EVER. I am very excited about Anew. I hope he is in great form.

At Belmont, he's as consistent as can be. His only bad races are away from Belly..

Acid test. What an understatement. this is great news, I didn't even know that this match-up was coming up. You've got the returning sprint champ on his home track versus the newcomer who is in great form. I am soooo keyed up for this!

Who is the returning Sprint Champ? I dont think Silver Train won an eclipse for top sprinter? I could be wrong. If I am, please correct me.

Didn't Silver Train win the BC Sprint? That's what I meant.

Yeah I saw that. Thanks.

You obviously knew he wasn't the champ but winning the BC sprint last year and now the Met Mile this year certainly makes him the most accomplished sprinter currently in training. Remind me of the sprinters racing now who have won two races of that prominence(the two most elite races for horses one turn at a mile or under)?

chupster2 07-13-2006 10:46 AM

That was before this year. He lucked out with a couple of good runs last year, but every other time I watched him he blew air. Like I said, this year will be a different story.

I believe you were the one making fun of Tiger and saying some interesting things about Anew a few months back. You won't be talking so much when Anew romps over your Dutrow horse, will you?

Should be a nice little race, looking forward to see how Anew holds up with a better horse than the muchly overhyped Tigger chasing him. Not a big fan of Silver Train but you have to give credit where it is due. Lucky for him Belmont Park is one of the premier tracks and he has taken a liken to this surface instead of a toy track like for instance Delaware Park or Philadelphia.

Has Silver Train ever run well anywhere else?

I know you're an elitist and better than us all, but please don't compare Delaware to Philly Park, Delaware has a great weekend card for a bush league track.

Right OH! When I think back to how good he looked in the Met Mile, unreal. In the post parade he looked like such a confident, fit, superior athlete.

With that said, he is facing a horse, Anew, that may at this point still be under-rated because of how he raced before the "equipment" change. He destroyed the field in his last race.

Summit of Speed, Claiming Crown, and now this. Another fine weekend of racing ahead. The only drag is the Barbaro situation which gives us all heavy hearts.

Gander 07-13-2006 10:56 AM

Sorry, you are right. While Delaware is certainly no Belmont, its not nearly as bad and depressing as Philadelphia. My bad.
My point was there is no better track to have a fondeness over than Belmont, king of all tracks. So many grade 1's there at 1 mile or less and it runs 2 different seasons.

It is Tiger, not Tigger. The "overhyped" horse you are talking about has run two extremely fast races. Anew just happens to be an incredible horse.

Gander 07-13-2006 11:02 AM

Anew is something else, huh? I always root for former claimers, because I consider myself to be a claimer as far as life goes. A hard knocker, honest game old campaigner.

I dont think Tiger is half the horse Anew is or even remotely close to being considered a top sprinter off those 2 dream trips he had. This coming from a huge Jerken's fan. Silver Train is a much better horse and will at least make a race of it. That race Tiger threw in last time was an utter mess.

Well hes sure not my horse, though I sorely wish he was. I don't quite understand all the unprovoked venom you spew but all I know is that it should be one hell of a race and that I give Silver Train a slight edge here. Going 6f Anew would most likely win, but at 7F I think that Silver Train will wear him down. Hes also had a little more time between his last race and this one.
Do you ever have any postive thoughts about racing or horses? Just wondered.

Show me one bad race he's run at Belmont.

He came within one-hundredth of a second of the six-furlong track record and would've gotten it if Prado hadn't geared him down, he wired the Jerome, won the BC Sprint and the Met Mile.

Call him a one-track wonder, but inconsistent? Hardly.
