I guess it's easy for me to say because I certainly won't miss him....except to bet against him.
Personally, I hit the PK4 when he won the Champagne and I bet him heavily when he won the FOY. Thanks to my buddy Joel Cunningham, who touted him before he made his 1st start. Joel stated that he could drag the starting gate and still win. I remember Oracle 80 stating that another horse had a chance. Well, Scat Daddy won for fun in the slop and had a very nice career. I cashed over $3K in tickets, so I personally sad to see him retired. Go Scat Daddy Go.

Well said Bogey...

Joel emailed me today to let me know... I really liked this colt a lot too. So maybe he wasn't a speedball or a real flashy winner, but he was very gutsy and tried hard. He was good enough for me.

Cajun, I'm glad you are giving Joel some credit, I know he wasn't a popular figure on the DT board, but bottom line the guy knows what he is talking about and always has an opinion.

Believe me, I get a ton of shiat about it, but I've always like Joel a lot. We share a lot in common and I appreciate a person who has strong opinions and sticks with them. I'm glad to see that you feel the same way.

Cajun. I consider Joel a personal friend and I agree with you. He's stricly about results and I would put him up against any handicapper in the country heads up.

You can find him at Wiretowire.com. Joel is up to date as anyone in the horse racing industry.

I had a feeling you'd chime in, Hossy!

If you remember well, Joel punked Oracle big time in regards to Scat Daddy and his career. Multiple Grade G1 winner at 2 and 3.

Look I cashed a 2k pick 4 at Toga in part due to Mike Smith's ride in the final race last summer at Toga. That doesn't mean he's a great rider. The fact of the matter is i've had this god damn avatar for three weeks and all I asked for was 3 wins to take it down.

but as for scat daddys stud fee, i'd think 25k. friends lake won the fla derby, and is currently 15k. of course sd won more than just that race, so he'd be more--but i don't know he'd be as high as first samurai, going by both of their sires....

but then, stonewall would probably start him at 60--so who knows?

Hoss, he definitely wasn't the fastest T-Bred, but he found the winner's circle on numerous ocassions. His racing record must be respected.

Hurt in the Derby and 4th in the Juvy. Not all that bad IMO.

How could you dislike a face like this?
