He's a gorgeous horse... great looking stride on him. I'd sure love to have him in my barn! (Still think Jamie lucked out with him... it happens sometimes.)
I'd love to have a barn full of them, no question. I give credit to her for picking out a horse like that, snagging him for $9k, bringing him along, etc. However, that is a far stretch from being a "great trainer" and all of the other claims that came along with this. I don't have anything against Jamie Sanders. She's a new, on her own trainer, and I wish her all the best.

However, she is still a 2% trainer, and that more speaks to her current "abilities" and her results than the results of this colt. Let's look at how many others she selected, bought, etc. Let's look at how the rest of those have done. Now, no offense, however, I don't think we have to look too far -- she's won two races all year long.

You have to look at this in the big picture.

Ok, this is probably a stupid thought, but does anyone else think that Devil's Bag as T-berger's broodmare sire might have something to do with how sound he has stayed? Devil's Bag is the sire of Devil His Due who ran all but one start drug free. From what I understand, Devil His Due was a pretty sound horse as well. I just wonder if that may have something to do with it.

I don't know... Devil's Bag was the first racehorse I ever loved... still have the '84 Flamingo program, only race he ever lost. But he pretty much sucked as a sire, outside of Devil His Due and Twilight Agenda.

His last crop hits the track this year.

abaginone was decent.
taiki shuttle was hoy in japan i believe.
devils orchid was a monster sprinter filly awhile back!
region was a pretty nice horse.

quebrada was an interesting mare. she was a german raced mare who in 12 starts had 7 wins, 2 2nds and 2 3rds. she was out of the tough as nails mare queen to conquer, who i believe either beat or nearly beat john henry once.

while you could say he was a disappointment at stud, i dont know if he really sucked like you say. me, i think forestry sucks!

There's a Devil's Bag filly in the upcoming sale in Ocala. Her page is below:

I'm probably going to head up to Ocala to check them out under tack on Sunday.

Ocala Jun 2YO in training sale? 99% she can't run.

I'll never forget the buzz about the 'Bag, and reading Steve Crist's articles chronicling his journey towards the Derby.

Yeah, maybe not. I think Buzzard's Bay was a June OBS grad, though if I recall. So you never know... Haven't seen them yet, but it'll give me something to do this weekend anyway.

Surely, sounds like a cool trip. I've never been to Ocala for a 2YO sale...

i see that Spectacular Bid is on the broodmare side as well. he always did his best work on the mare side of the pedigrees it seems.
