This woman is still a moron. How much more money would Teulflesburg earned with proper management. I just read she is considering the Travers. This is a superior one turn horse. Even considering the Travers instead of the Kings Bishop is ridiculous.

hopefully she had the race tivo'd and heard Albarado's comments about him being a superior one turn horse...but anything past 8f would be a struggle....

If they decide to run in the Travers I agree with your opinion of her. But interpreting her statement, I think she meant that the King's Bishop was the main target race. The Travers comment was probably said with the thrill of winning a Grade 2 on Belmont day.

I agree. I thought she ruined Teufelsberg and had Stormello in my pick 4. I thought Stormello and Teufelsberg looked like similar horses but included Stormello because of the class and cutback angle.

I know I'm fighting a losing battle here but I'll say it anyway...the woman has done nothing wrong with this horse, he obviously is sound and prospers with work, she's running him the way trainers use to run their horses...you know, before the object was to run 6-8 times, get the fans hooked and then send the horse to the breeding shed. His run in the Blue Grass was certainly good enough, snail's pace and all, to merit taking the once-in-a-lifetime chance in the Derby. He lost the BG by a neck and the Derby winner was in the race afterall. You simply don't know how ANY horse is gonna respond to running against 19 others with all those people in the infield at 10 furlongs until you try. If that effort harmed the horse, it sure didn't show yesterday! How many MALE trainers have entered distance-challenged horses in the Derby? Todd Pletcher, for all his success has apparently entered quite a few horses in the race that "didn't belong", at least based on performance and yet folks don't make fun of him and act like he's ruining his horses. Of course her record overall is that of a low % trainer...not everybody wins 30% or even 10%, she's just starting trainer-wise. She has what we use to call an "iron horse", one who apparently thrives on racing...for 3yo's in the spring, that means taking a look at the TC at least...she tried the Derby and has now cut back appropriately to 7f, the Kings Bishop would appear to be the logical next race but I'd keep the Travers on the radar...suppose the race comes up paceless? Why not take a shot? 3yo races are unique...you get one shot only...who are we to criticize someone who actually runs a sound horse??

I'm a little disappointed in how Sanders has handled her stock this year.. I thought she showed real promise last summer at Saratoga, but she seems pretty off the deep end in her placings of some of her horses these days.

We're not fighting. Look at Teufelsberg PP's from race 1 through the Woody Stephens and please explain using logic and not emotion how he has been managed wisely.

Taking chances is one thing but I think taking so many chances was not the best way to develop the horse. That being said Jaime Sanders is a horsewoman and I am not a horseman. She knows how to care for a horse and I do not. She worked for Nick Zito and I've only read positive things from him through various media sources. So even though her record thus far has been less than stellar you have to take Nick Zito at his horse that she is an excellent horsewoman.

Conditioning a horse and knowing where to run a horse are two different things. I believe some trainers are better at placing their horses than caring for their horse. It seems Jaime at this point in her training career is better at conditioning and caring for her horses than at placing her horse. The decision on skipping the Preakness and aiming for the Woody Stephens was a smart decision and she was rewarded for it.

I'd post the same thing even if Jaime Sanders was James Sanders. But I'm nothing but a racing fan and an anonymous poster expressing an opinion on an internet message board. I meant no harm and I'm not looking for fights.

Having seen your previous assessments of people around the racetrack I am assuming you will be starting a " why isn't Chantal Sutherland in the Hall of Fame " thread any minute.

I'm not saying she's great but I think she's done better than some folks are willing to give her credit for...calling her a moron, well...I'd like to see that poster's record training horses. I still maintain that the Derby was a perfectly OK chance to take and now the horse is sprinting. Her record is not unlike many trainers just starting out, I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt here as this horse looked great yesterday.

great is when you can buy a horse for $9k thats is worth $5 million+ that is as great as it gets.

how many horses does she have, how many other than teuf have done anything? using one example doesn't make her a great trainer--if one horse was all it took, risen stars trainer would be in the hall of fame. hell, i can't even remember the guys name. that's how great he was.

the numbers she has so far in her career makes guys like pletcher look like beginners, per capita she makes him look like a child compared to roger clemens
