There have been 8 Derby winners repeat in the Preakness over the last 20 years.

I answered a question that was asked.....I don't see how that has anything to do with trying to be clever.

Grindstone missed the race with an injury if memory serves me right, he never ran again.

Grindstone actually won the Derby and was found to have a slab fracture the next morning. He never went to the track again.

It was six days later according to Avalyn Hunter. I believe it was a bone chip but not sure.

Let's just say Dr. Harthill did some of his best work on Grindstone in the 3 days prior to the Derby, and it definately was a slab fracture...
