Carl and Asmussen
 

Well I was on the backside this morning and Carl and Asmussen both said that SS and Curlin are not 100% definate for the Preakness. Carl said that they horse will let him know if he is ready to go or not. Steve said he wants to wait to see what Curlin looks like next week. This type of game drives me crazy with trainers. I just wish they would say they they are running and to get ready for it.

I'm pretty sure that Street Sense will be there. Just a hunch.

Probably a good hunch.

As we know that world famous jock that had him for the derby, is too good for this crappy horse:D

He will very likely be edged out of 2nd choice by Hard Spun in the betting. RA will retain the mount.

I know that you like to be clever and were answering the question exactly as it was asked, but some elaboration on the reason he did not run in the Preakness might have been enlightening to Slotdirt.

I answered a question that was asked.....I don't see how that has anything to do with trying to be clever.

Grindstone missed the race with an injury if memory serves me right, he never ran again.

Grindstone actually won the Derby and was found to have a slab fracture the next morning. He never went to the track again.

I think the answer u are looking for is Spend a Buck in 1985. He instead ran in the Jersey Derby, in pursuit of a $2.6 million payday from a bonus that came with winning the Jersey Derby, the Kentucky Derby, and two other NJ races, the Garden State Stakes and the Cherry Hill Mile.

Grindstone was retired before he could attempt the Preakness... he's the last one.

They are assuming he asked the question wanting to know when the last Derby winner skipped the race while sound and healthy.

It was six days later according to Avalyn Hunter. I believe it was a bone chip but not sure.
