Scat Daddy is a game talented horse, I love how he's still not getting respect, leave him out of your Derby tri at your own risk.

Yeah, at this point I probably will leave him out, but the way he has looked these last two starts you are correct, excluding him is definitely a risk.
Regardless of how he runs in 5 weeks though, he turned out to be better than I thought. He didn't just win a "prep" race today. He won a million dollar G1, and he deserves credit for it.

Just watched the race for the first time.

Very game Scat Daddy. Cherlokee didn't get the best of rides from R. Dom.

I can't see Stormello getting the 1 1/4 but he may be your pacesetter May 5th.

I think you're being too hard on Ramon. He saved ground on the rail, pressed the pace along side of Scat Daddy waiting for the rail to open up (like it usually does) just when it did, Scat brushed Stormello into the rail closing it off again. When he angled back outside he seemed full of run, closing well but he wasn't catching Scat Daddy. Scat Daddy runs just fast enough to win. I've been on his bandwagon since being at the Sanford and seeing his gutsy win there. Heart and guts wins a lot of races. Dominguez had the right idea, and seemed ready to get first run on Stormello. He seemed more of a victim of racing luck than anything. I think it only cost him second anyway. Scat Daddy raced 3 wide the whole way and seems very likely to get the mile and a 1/4. Go Scat Daddio!

The thing is, Chelokee finishing 3rd instead of 2nd (which we generally concluded he would have finished if he didnt have to check slightly and go around horses) probably costs him a trip to Churchill May 5th because of graded earnings.

Scat Daddy will get respect on Derby Day.
He won't be the favorite, but I see him being under 10-1

I think highly of him, but he may have peaked last Saturday.
Interesting to see if Prado campaigns to keep the mount for the derby, or if he looks elsewhere.

I hope that's correct... Prado seems to be a better fit for him IMHO.

I think between 8-1 and 10-1 is about right. The Blue Grass winner will be well bet(and Street Sense if he doesn't win there) , as will Cirular Quay.. and possibly NoBiz if he beats CQ in the Wood. As is typical, the most recent runners/winners get the most attention. Just look at the weekly 'derby contender' polls.

No way does Scat Daddy get a sniff of 6-1 on Derby Day. I think most people will forget about him come Derby time. If Street Sense, Quay, Any Given Saturday, Hard Spun, No Biz Like Show Biz all run well in their final prep then they will all be bet before Scat Daddy will be forgotten. I didnt even mention the 2 possible wise guy horses in Cobalt Blue and Curlin. However, Daddy fits in well with a couple of numbers. He ran the last eigth in 13.09 and the final furlong in 37.78. We all look at anything under 13 and 38. If Daddy gets an OK post you are looking at probably 12-1 to 16-1.

His final three furlongs were in :38.18 seconds. It was 1:10.82-1:49.00. Just FYI.
