Speaking to both Euro and Pgardns' posts: I think it's ridiculous for them to have a regular season game out of the States! It cheapens the season and I think its not a wise business venture...It's not like Europe will start wearing NFL merchandise. Football will never replace soccer in the rest of the world. Props to TB for his post also!

I don't see anything wrong with them playing a game (or two) a year outside the U.S.
The regular season game in Mexico City a couple years ago set the record for attendence at any NFL regular season game. NFL Europa averages about 20,000 per game with something like 36,000 at the World Bowl. Not earth shattering but still, there are fans there. It's all about TV revenue and ratings and if those go up everyone in the league benefits. The NFL doesn't make too many strategic mistakes. |
