In handicapping a race, I like to pay attention to how the pace of a race will most likely unfold, and certain scratches could dramatically affect my analysis (although some would say my wild a** guesses). Just something for those fortunate enough to select venue in the future to keep in mind.
I call myself trying to figure out pace also, but I think I did better when I just went by beyer speed figures. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Not sure when my handicapping took a turn for the worse. Might have been when I started trying to figure out pace or when I started relying wholly on brisnet pps. Could be I just never was that good at handicapping.
