You really think the trainer had anything to do with it? Mine that Bird was fried last year after running in races after he had already tailed off after the Triple Crown. You could have picked any trainer in racing to give MTB to and he wouldn't have fired back to his career form. But hey, the guy only almost won the sprint with a 23-1 shot...let him retire though. He's won and forgotten more about training horses than any of us will ever.
