Great color commentary on TBS. During the Phillies/Reds game we got the gem of the guy stating the series could be either a high scoring series or a low scoring series. Maybe next inning he can offer that one team will win the series and one team will lose the series, and at this point it can be either team.

Halladay is the best pitcher of my lifetime. It's a shame he hasn't been on a contender until this season. He might as well have been pitching on Mars all these years. What a monster.

Pedro prime was better.

Probably, but I prefer Halladay's body of work. Pedro's year in 2000 was the best single pitching year of the past 20 years though.

There's seriously not even a question about who has the best rotation in the playoffs right now. Oswalt is playoff-seasoned and Hamels looks like the 08 version instead of the 09 sissy that got banged around. |

Is he even better then Lee?

It's not even close. Lee's had 3 pretty good years. His career ERA is just under 4. Halladay's resume blows his out of the water and he's finally getting to show what he can do on a contender. Meanwhile, Lee is 5-6 since being traded to Texas.

Clemens and Maddux had far better careers and higher peaks. Pedro had a 7 year run better than anyone in baseball history has ever had. Randy Johnson won 5 Cy Young awards and finished 2nd 3 times. Tom Glavine won 2 Cy Youngs and finished in the top 3 6 times. Halladay's last few seasons have been very good. If he pitches as well over the next 3 or 4 years he will join the above group. Being that he is going to get a steady dose of the Nationals, Marlins and Mets in the NL East it looks good for him. |

In the playoffs maybe. Overall, Halladay's easily better.

Lee is terrific for sure. Halladay's no hitter in the playoffs gives him 5 or 6 more games to see if he's as good as Lee in the playoffs.
Halladays last outing wasnt bad, not spectacular, but it should have been a 7 inning 2 run performance, cause Ibanez NEEDs to make that catch in the outfield to end the inning instead of having 2 runs score. I'll still take a Halladay - Oswalt - Hamels trio over a Lee-Hamels rotation any day of the week.

What is overall? Halladay's best isnt better than Lee's. He has had a better career but the last three years they are pretty even.
