Didn't the other horses that figured to show speed all get gutted merely giving chase to the frontrunner? Except for your OBS superhorse, the superfecta was made up of runners from the back half of the field. I don't think the Pletcher and co. were rating behind the leader. Whether or not that's the definition of a "collapse", I don't know, but certainly the speed didn't hold which seems atypical for that race (I think the last 3 years have been won wire-to-wire).

Some field it was, too. Made up of Penn National and Presque Isle maiden breakers and a couple of maiden claiming winners. The other first time starter in there (a late running 5th) was less than 9-1.

I'll wait for Keeneland before anointing this one.
