![]() Never thought they could outdo the underware donation used for a charitable tax deduction but they sure are trying.
"He is raffling himself. In an e-mail sent to millions of people who supported Hillary Clinton’s White House campaign, the former President asks: “How would you like the chance to come up to New York and spend the day with me?” For those who would like the One-Day-With-Bill prize, an online donation of as little as $5 (£3) will buy them the chance. By 2007, seven years after leaving the White House, the Clintons had earned a combined $109 million (£73 million) through speaking engagements and bestselling memoirs. Even so, apparently they would prefer American voters to settle Mrs Clinton’s remaining $771,000 debt rather than paying it themselves." so freaking typical!!!! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle7124638.ece

![]() I know, I saw that... even the Dems that posted on the CNN article were like "WTF? Clintons have 100M + and they want the voters struggling through this economy to pay off their debt"
I hope nobody donates. Though I'd have some interesting questions for Bill Clinton.. as long as he doesnt try to bang me we'd be cool.

![]() Campaign funding is subject to a myriad of federal law. During the campaign I know the Clintons loaned her campaign 11.3 + million. There was millions in debt left over when she finally dropped out in 2008. Romney had alot of campaign debt, too, from his unsuccessful campaign, he loaned himself like $44 million. That's not unusual. Obama was the unusual one, declining public campaign funding during his Presidential bid.
They are not asking "voters" to pay for the debt, they are asking their political supporters to continue helping them. Political supporters are limited in how much they can donate to candidates - and that includes how much a candidate can use of their own private funds to pay for their own campaign.

![]() The point is, that legally, they cannot just write the campaign a check out of their personal funds.

Romney doesn't. Let me see if I get the prevailing thought correctly here: The Clintons have massive campaign debt. They've worked seven years to pay it off - speaking engagements, books, donors. This is bad. Working to pay off your debt to others is bad. Romney has massive campaign debt. Never paid off. This is somehow admired more than the Clintons paying their debt off.
