It's hard to put into words what happened with Pal, even this morning with a chance to cool down a bit. I do not want to sound like I am bashing jockeys who, essentially put their lives on the line every time they go on the track, but it is hard to imagine what some of the guys are thinking about, in particular the jock yesterday. Montalvo breezed the horse for the vet and both gave the green light to go on.
In going over the race, Gary, Steve and I were all in agreement that Pal was pretty much the only speed. When Gary asked Montalvo what he thought, he said he wanted to take back and make a run, when Gary and I disagreed with him, he copped an attitude. I told him I thought he would get the lead easily. With that he walked away and when Paul gave him a leg up he said to Paul that he would never ride for us again, that we embarrassed him....I think it's not too far a stretch to figure out what happened next. When we spoke to the rider after, he said the vet scratched him, and when we spoke to the vet (the same vet that watched the breeze), he said the rider scratched him. I probably would not have believed the story if I didn't see it with my own eyes. I am still shaking my head and I won't say anymore about this right now. Incredibly frustrating....

Wow, that is unbelievable. It is not like Montalvo has people lining up to ride him. Thanks for the information.

oh wow. so sorry pg and everyone involved.

as for toy cannon-gratifying to see him win. i really liked the horse, but while waffling on whether to get in (ny bred, and knew i'd never get to see him live) the shares got bought up.
he looks great in that pic, glad he got the win for you guys.

Congrats to TC and everyone involved...

I did not see the race live, but on replay it seemed that Toy Cannon was just "toying" with the others. It really looked like he was just "out for a jog" !!!

Thanks Steve and all involved...It has been such a while between drinks and I was so thrilled with the win that we went out to Carabbas last night and took advantage of their "2-fers on SAT night"..

Go Cannon....Hope to see you at the SPA...

I might have to make a mid week stop at Belmont and say hello to Montalvo in person in the paddock area. does this pinhead understand English, or should I bring a friend?

Only kidding...
