Well, the hell with you then.

Don was a great guy and was still in the stand when I started calling some races at the Pha. Classy old fella, rocked tweed like no other in the late 1990s, and you would rarely, if ever, see him without a hat. Always had a smile and a kind word if I saw him in the hall. He is well-remembered with this race.

And I love Whistle Pig in this spot. A great story behind this horse...

My buddy's partnership claimed him for $10,000 in his fourth lifetime start on May 27, 2007, he's made 48 starts since, winning 16 races and placing 25 times, earning over $880,000. A win here would make him a ludicrous millionaire. Considering he was actually closing over the shorter trips at speed-favoring Presque Isle, I think he's got a massive shot.
