I'd have dang sure made Researcher was in the field by hook or by crook.

That's some nice horsies for Charles Town. Do Pletcher et. al. know the Charles Town Inn or whatever it's called is basically a Holiday Inn?

Better yet does Pletcher know about the Golden Horseshoe?

as soon as i turned 18, i found out all about that place.

as far as landsdowne being the nicest/closest place to stay..... i disagree. Burkittsville, MD.. home of the Blair Witch Project is only a couple miles away.

but more than likely everyone will be on the first thing with wings from dulles after the race.

By far the nicest place to stay within 10 miles of CT is the Bavarian Inn.

Rule has run well in the slop and has sort of an advantage of having won twice at a bullring. Given the distance of the race I would bet him to win at 6-1 or better. Looks like a close call considering the connections.

Charles Town really threw together a fun day/night with this card. Casino and racing sides were both well-attended.

There is a holiday inn express across the street from the far turn at Charles Town...maybe he will enjoy the free breakfeast there?

But seriously the conditions to get in this race should have been redone if the previous winner gets excluded. Even if he has only ran once this year in a allowance race. Especially when it was a horse that was stabled on grounds for many years. But congrats to Charles Town for getting a very nice field for this race.

He hasn't raced on the flat since last year's running so however the eligibility is determined he's unlikely to beat out horses with recency.

You'd think they'd have saved a spot for a 2x winner of the race.

Have the vaunted "black and cherry red" of the Phipps family ever graced the paddock at Charles Town?

Charles Town has been around since the 30's, and at some point it wasn't a moribund, backwoods, bull ring...right?

Anyway, I stayed at the inn they built a couple years ago last July right after the casino was opened, and the Borgata it is not. Still, thanks to the insanity that is the state of Maryland, Charles Town is by far the casino with closest table games to the DC metro area.

Where else would one stay around there? Closest "nice" hotel is probably the Landsdowne and that is a good 45 minutes away.

Gone Astray was in the race last year.

Pletcher actually won stake there two years ago. Zito brought Commentator there. I think that was probably the most notable horse although Awesome Gem has carved out a name for himself.

Three turns for 9 furlongs. Breaking from the outside, Game On Dude will have to be some kind of horse to win against this field. A lot of speed in here.
