No way, an inconsistent Jorge Chavez ride? That never happens.

I'll go even further and say that Giacomo would be a major contender in the 2011 version. Dialed In is the 2011 version, and Giacomo, at least in my opinion, was a superior animal at this point in his career to Dialed In.

I realize Giacomo hit the board in a lot of the California prep races, but didn't he just have a maiden win coming into the Derby? Seems like Dialed in has at least shown some flashes of brilliance, winning 3 out of 4 races, including an eye-catching move in his maiden win, and two graded stakes victories.

Different years, different competition, I know. But I disagree with that comparison all together. I don't think he's nearly the plodder that Giacomo was.

I think Dialed In is the definition of plodder. And Giacomo was probably faster. It's really applies and oranges though because both could end up Derby winners and neither be particularly fast.

Dialed In isn't a plodder.

Plodder? LOL If anything, I would worry about distance more than speed with this horse. He looks like a closing miler to me but then again there isn't much of a body of work to support that thought.

I think maybe your computer is running slow. Might want to get that checked.

Bingo.

Plodders don't win one-turn races like the Holy Bull and his maiden race. I am in the closing sprinter/miler camp as well.

He may end up being better long term as a closing sprinter/miler, but he was moving pretty good at the end of both of his 1-1/8 races. I'm not inclined to bet him to win on Derby day, but I think he still has potential to be a classic distance horse.
