Crist: Zenyatta needs to earn title on track

boy, it's either one extreme or the other. no one is suggesting the races are meaningless. what is being suggested is that it's not the 'championships' it's billed as being. the name doesn't make it so. it's not a super bowl. taking the easy route and winning on bc day gives you a big check and a nice trophy. it should not automatically mean you also get a year end award. winning next saturday should not receive more weight than winning in gr 1's throughout the year, in other meaningful races. actually, doing away with the bc might not be such a bad idea...then voters for the eclipse awards would have to pay attention to more than one weekend a year.
