If you're going to South Shore of Tahoe, don't worry about trying to get your hotel at the same place you want to gamble. Much more consolidated than Vegas and parking at each casino is generally relatively easy.

Just pick the hotel you like....there are some "mom & pop" motels just across the state line in California if you want to go that way.....and explore the sports books along the mile or less of the South Shore "strip" until you get the feel and features you like.

Keep in mind too that about a 45 minute drive down the Mt. Rose Highway or US 50 will take you down to Reno. I personally like the old school traditional feel of downtown Reno, but many like the Peppermill for gambling.

If I like to go "super old school" there are a couple small casinos on the North Shore of Tahoe that are literally a rock throw away from Frank Sinatra's old "Cal Neva." Complete with the Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio and Kennedy lore.

Ben Roethlisberger seemed to have a good time at Harrah's on the South Shore last year.....
