![]() Haynesfield has a stride that reminds me a lot of Speightstown. I remember when he won the Vanderbilt (?) at Saratoga, I was joining my family in the grandstand. The horse lowered his body and hit another gear when they turned for home, it was visually noticeable. Haynesfield has a very similar style and ran well today, but still can't believe he can do it for too many more furlongs.

![]() He runs like he can run all day, though as it's been pointed out, he has faced a bunch of nothings.
It's kinda funny that a nybred son of speightstown that cost like what, 20 or 30k, has a legitimate shot at being a pretty useful router. |

![]() I thought I saw an analysis of his pedigree that pointed out a ton of stamina on the bottom side. If Northern Afleet and Elusive Quality can sire classic winners, why not Speightstown?

speightstown is an unknown obviously, this being his first crop to race. northern afleet and EQ were mentioned-elusive quality was a record setting miler. northern afleet also ran at longer distances than speightstown, who was a good horse at 6-7 f. so i can see where there might be more ??'s regarding what he'll get. now, haynesfield has shown he can rate, but certainly isn't afraid of leading either. speightstown siring a derby winner would certainly fit the trend from the last few years, where new sires had a derby winner right off the bat. |

![]() I think it's pretty interesting that Speightstowns are seeing success right off the bat given his injury-riddled career (as pointed out in the above article). It's not like sons of Gone West have sired nothing but a bunch of sprinty types anyway. The Gotham will be an interesting test.
