Never been a huge fan of his...but for what he has accomplished thus far, through 54 holes, is nothing short of amazing. He's 53 and this is his first major championship since 2005. But, the best player on the planet is not there, the # 2 ranked player in the world can't break an egg (much less break par) in a British Open. The hottest player in the US is playing in Wisconsin. Anything can happen in that tournament...I mean think about it, Paul Lawrie won this tournament in 1999.

kev - look at the age and # of starts , this would be like Fourstardave shwoing up at saratoga this year and winning the Swordancer

Find me in history where a guy wins this or any other major off this few starts - just doesn't happen would be a miracle


phil never plays well in a british open , we knew that coming in so that really doesn't matter and tiger's history in the wind over 4 days isn't really that good in this tourney (remember 2 of his british open wins came on wide open and benign conditions at pitch and putt st andrews)

this by far would be the greatest win in major championship history for 1 tournament
