![]() This is Golden Spikes' best shot at a Grade 2. He'll never get another setup like this.

![]() I'm starting to think Golden Spikes is a bum, too. I keep chasing him because of the pedigree and connections but I think it's time to give it up. . .

![]() I'll need a lot more than the 5/2 you're probably going to get on Golden Spikes in order to get excited. His trip was so perfect in the Illinois Derby and he still had no punch whatsoever in the stretch. That was the third consecutive time he went the wrong way in the stretch and all three of those races happened to be at nine furlongs.
If you are going to try to beat the Japanese entry and Golden Spikes (which is advisable) the value will be there on everyone else and there are a couple who are interesting. NT |

Agreed about the ride last time....but he's hardly a bullet by any stretch of the imagination. And....he has very little ability.

![]() The Trainer for the Japanese entry 'Kazuo Fujisawa' is currently 10th in the Trainer standings in Japan as of the end of April 2008. His strike rate is a respectable 16.2% - from 74 entries.
Having watched a few dirt races from Japan the past few years, My opinion is Japanese runners are stronger in their turf form as opposed to their dirt form and if the entry is overbet, they must be taken on. A 950K yearling that breaks his mdn by 11 1/2 lengths could be any kind but off the shipping and lack of experience he would be hard to take at 2-1 or less. |
