Was right about Street Sense, wrong about everything else.

I only included 1 Pletcher horse in my tri box, C.Q., and he at least finished the best of the Pletcher horses.

I was wrong to think that Zanjero was better than IMA (although Zanjero did have a slight traffic issue).

I didn't think Hard Spun was a toss, but of the "favorites" I thought he had the least chance of all of them. HE RAN HUGE TODAY.

Didn't cash a Derby ticket so that makes me totally wrong. How could you not cash a show ticket on SS @ $4.60. I put too much faith in CQ getting a part of the tri.

Wrong about Hard Spun, right about Street Sense.

Wrong about AGS, very wrong, but right about NoBiz

Wrong about Tiago but right about Curlin.

Wrong in how I bet...very wrong. I only got paid on my win bet because I was negative on HS.

Right about Street Sense... in November last year I was at Churchill freezing my backside off and was lucky enough to witness him demolish most of these same foes in the BC Juvenile. I sat around all winter and spring waiting for one of these other horses to step up in a prep race, none did...

Right about there being too many prep races....

Right that owners are stupid and egotistical... Running a horse in the derby just for the sake of being there is insulting to the fans of racing.

Right about Curlin and Hard Spun and my 4 horse ex/tri box...

Right that the Derby is the single greatest betting race ever!!

Wrong on about everything else I do in regards to betting horses!!

My only Derby bet was $5 across the board on Hard Spun, so at least I was right about him running big - BECAUSE OF, not in spite of, his fast work. He needed that after no race in 6 weeks. I was wrong about him being able to hold off Street Sense. I chickened out of betting an exacta box of the two (for 2 lousy bucks! Where is my money sense? Nowhere, that's where!)

Was right about the Illinois Derby being a lousy race and the winner a toss (Cowtown Cat) and about Scat Daddy remembering who HIS daddy is around the quarter pole. Wrong about Curlin not running well (would not have had him in a tri had I bet one).

But what I was most right about was that 2yo form from last year was holding up well and none of the prep race seconds and thirds without major wins already was likely to win the Derby. Street Sense beat Circular Quay by 10 lengths last year - so what did he beat CQ by this year, about the same?

P.S. Louisville (or Lousyville, as we like to call it) dodged a bullet today. We have had several strong thunder storms through Lexington today, lots of rain, flood warnings galore.

Wrong: Sedgefield, CQ (I thought he would finish even further back), Hard Spun (great effort, never quit), Curlin (great effort also)

Right: Nobiz, Street Sense, CQ

I am looking forward to the Preakness.

Wrong: Everything but the Derby & the Distaff Turf Mile (had the exacta straight)
Right: Had the exacta, straight, 6 weeks ago for the Derby!!!!
