Would not necessarily dismiss Bird from any discussion just yet. Give him another start this year.

Amazed that Hard Spun fell so far off the one poor effort.

Agree with Notional being that high as professional does seem like the correct term to describe him at this point

Still believe NBLS is most talented, but blinkers better work in the Wood

That poor effort was confirmed when the horse that beat him, Tueflesberg, went on to be soundly beaten last week by a talented horse making only his second start, Curlin. Most people view Tueflesberg as a horse that doesn't belong on the derby trail. So its make or break time for Hard Spun this week. He fell fast with one bad effort, but he could also climb fast if he has a convincing win this weekend. I wouldn't count on it though.

Agree on company line idea as I do not like teufelsburg at all. Just think that with a good effort at Turfway he could easily redeem himself to at least be in top 10. Also believe he might have a brighter future on grass but of course that is not topic of this thread
