![]() Flintshire will not run in BC Turf, heads to Japan instead
By Marcus Hersh Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, just confirmed that FLINTSHIRE is being pointed to the Japan Cup and is not intended for the Breeders' Cup Turf later this month at Keeneland. A story surfaced late this week that Flintshire could not travel both to the U.S. and to Japan because he had not been vaccinated for West Nile Virus. There also is the fact that GOLDEN HORN, who just convincingly defeated Flintshire in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, is expected to start favored in the BC Turf. Even if Golden Horn indeed comes for the race, Flintshire's absence will sting a bit because he's such a wonderful horse, and one proven under American conditions. He was a fine second in the 2014 BC Turf after once again finishing second in last year's Arc, and his Sword Dancer win this summer at Saratoga was the definitive performance in the division anywhere in North America so far this year.

![]() Time Test 'in a good place' for Breeders' Cup
By Andrew Dietz 1:00PM 18 OCT 2015 TIME TEST has been given the go-ahead to contest the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Keeneland on October 31. Having mulled over a plethora of options for the Group 2 Joel Stakes winner, trainer Roger Charlton has been putting the finishing touches to the three-year-old’s pre-flight preparations before departing for Kentucky. “Time Test worked well at Wolverhampton on Thursday under Ryan Moore and the plan is that he departs for Lexington, Kentucky next Saturday to enable him to run in the Breeders’ Cup Mile,” the trainer wrote on his website. “Wolverhampton [was] most accommodating, allowing us to use the stalls which were positioned similar to how it will be in Keeneland and he worked a mile with two lead horses.” Time Test, who won the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, is a best-priced 6-1 third favourite for the Breeders’ Cup Mile behind Andre Fabre-trained Group 1 winners Esoterique and Make Believe. “He looks very well and is in a good place,” Charlton added. “At this stage it is tricky to know exactly what will turn up, but it appears that Esoterique will prove to be the greatest danger. A good draw will be essential.”
