Nobiz like Shobiz broke his maiden (also his first start) in the 2nd race at Belmont on the 9th of this month. He is trained by Barclay Tagg (my fav. trainer!). He beat Bullara by 10 lengths without even being hand ridden down the stretch (although I think that the Cornelio used the stick to get by Bullara at the top of the stretch). He ran the mile in 135.26, which was the second fastest out of four at the distance on that day. It was unbelievable for a first time out. He is a beautiful animal and has such a pretty way of going. He impressed me a lot more than Tiz Wonderful or Prime Ruler did in their maidens.

Hip #8 is located in the March sale at barretts.com. of this year. He is a very beautiful moving Orientate who is fast, fast, fast.
I really wasn't blown away as everyone else was by Nobiz. I thought he passed a horse who was gasping and it made him look a lot better than he was. Behind the gasper who held 2nd place was absolutely nothing.
I'd really have to see him do something again before I went nuts over him. Call me skeptical.

Well I'm taking a stand. It was his first start, and it was a mile long first start at that. Most start at five or six furlongs. He looked a little green to me when he went to pass Bullara at the top of the stretch because it looked like he hesitated for a split second, he was lugging in a little halfway through the stetch, and it took him just a little longer to switch leads than you would have like to have seen, but other than that he was very professional. He rated very nicely and is not going to have any problems stretching out. Cornelio quit riding him halfway through the stretch as to not fully blow him out. For a first time out, he couldn't have been more impressive to me and could have won by fifteen if Cornelio would have kept riding him. What I saw was an extremely talented animal who is probably the most powerful and beautiful moving two year old that I have seen in a race this year. He will only improve off of that start. If I'm wrong, then so be it, but I don't think that I am going to be. Now, granted the KD statement was strong, but I just thought it would be fun if I predicted the KD winner this far ahead (It probably won't ever happen). If the colt is as talented as I think he is, I wouldn't want him to be in the hands of any other trainer. I trust Barclay to get him there.

Noone has to tell me about Barclay Tagg. Its why I laugh at Nostradamus so hard when he thinks he is telling us something that we don't know.
I was scoring on horses like Grab the Green and Royal Mountain Inn back when he was watching Sesame Street.
Hes a great trainer.
I'm not saying his race wasn't very good because it was. But I thought he had an ideal scenario behind some duelers whose quality I question and simply wanna see him do it again before becoming a believer that he will succeed at the highest level.

Yes, I can agree with that (And I know that you know this stuff. It's just that some that read this stuff aren't as knowledgable and I don't want to lose anyone because a lot of people read these posts besides those in the know). He did get an ideal setup, and I also question the quality of those horses. But, he is going to be the kind of horse that puts himself in a position to win (whether he does or not) in every race because he has an ideal running style. I will say that there is a 99% chance that the horse will win by open lenghts in his next start, even if he steps up in competition a little bit. I just see something in Nobiz like Shobiz. I think it is the fact that he is very mature looking despite his age. He looked a lot more mature than the horses that he was racing against in that field.

I was serious about Sun King, assuming he runs. He's improving, and if they can ever figure out if he's a closing sprinter or a miler or whatever, he'll be in a good spot no matter where they place him. Aside from that race very early in the year, he's been well placed throughout 06.
