Second or third?

The rebounding stuff is funny though. I would hope Oden can rebound. Shouldn't he be among the league leaders in rebounds? He's a monster.
Im not saying what they should or shouldnt have done...merely what they DID do. You want to compare a guy in his fourth season to a guy that is 13 minutes into his NBA career.

You said "oden couldnt warm bynum up". Correct? Well, he outrebounded him head to head in their first matchup and played less than half the time.

No mort, rebounds dont matter. He "should" be able to get 5 rebounds in13 minutes in his first NBA game playing a portion of those minutes with a busted foot.

But he cant shoot a turn around J so he is an "underachiever" that will never be any good offensively.

Oh yes.....I think my first post here today said I thought he would become a dominant defensive center and excel at rebounds, blocks and keeping his opposite's numbers down.

He had a bad hand when he played those 20 or so games with Ohio, but he didn't look to me like he would be a scorer in the nba.

It's just the way Hossy said it, that's why I laughed....honest.

He looks like Mutumbo to me. More athletic than mutombo though. He can shoot with both hands facing the basket. His footwork is awful but so is every big man's until they have spent a couple of years working on it. Look at Shaq. They all don't come into the NBA looking like HAkeem.

Sounds roughly right about Mutumbo...although I'm weak at bb...I just never got into that much.

And so....again---whatever you say when I don't know what I'm talking about is the direction I will go.

I do find your fine work fascinating and I am much better looking than The Philski.

He didn't score a point. he can't shoot free throws and all he has proven to be able to do is dunk. He had no offensive game in college and unless they have some miracle workers on the Trailblazers coaching staff, I wouldn't expect much of an improvement. He isn't in the same league offensively as Bynum. I maintain he can't warm up Bynum when it comes to total skills and what they will both accomplish in their respective careers.
Total skills? bynum has played in over 150 pro games over 3 seasons compared to 13 minutes by oden. Yeah, bynum wins the skills portion of the competition after 13 minutes in the pros and 20 games in college for Oden. That makes a lot of sense.

Rebounds are a huge part of the game. Defense is a huge part of the game. Perhaps he will never be a dominant offensive player but he can dominate from the defensive end of the court and get his points off the boards. Why do so many people not understand that?

Expectations are amazing for a kid who has played 13 minutes. In 13 minutes we have one guy that says he is an "underachiever" (that was the award winner) and others say that he will never be a good offensive player.

The same thing happened when Lebron came out. People compared him to Kobe right away and thats just not fair. Compare them now.

Kobe is still a better player than Lebron.
Sure he should have huge expectations. But dont you think its reasonable to give him more than 13 minutes to live up to them? What "great things" should he have done in 13 minutes in his first game on the road against the western conference champions??????????????????????????????

Of course he will get an opportunity to live up to them. We're all talking opinions here. i never said he should have done great things last night. Don't put words in my mouth. I said, I don't think he is the player that Bynum is. It remains to be seen.
In terms of what Mutombo looked like when he first came into the league? Very similar. Similar in build and similar in type of impact. Do you want Mutombo's stats from his first year?

Oden injured his foot less than 3 minutes into his first game and played a total of 13 minutes and you can make a judgement on who is better and who will be better? 13 minutes vs. 3 years and you can make a judgement as to who will be a better player.

Your talent evaluation skills are way beyond mine. You win.
