But how about those that know how to properly use the figures and do have the intuitive grasp of the game? Shouldn't they, at least, be able to properly gauge the ability of this horse? Why is the focus, even from them, on the lack of competition, rather than the unique things this horse is able to do?

This is not meant to be critical and is more a result of disappointment than anything else.
.....its not that, its the flavor of the times to rip every horse thats " great " i have seen it here and at espn a few years ago.... watch, if for some miracle B.B won in elmont then the travers AND won the b cup. it wouldnt be because he is exceptional it would be " the field in the travers was a joke" and " curlin hated the santa anita surface "
