He's probably better than Sedgefield but I agree - the comparisons are pretty absurd.

As I said, I'll take a horse that ran second to Hard Spun and fifth in the Derby over a horse that beat a six-wide Halo Najib and got crushed in the Fountain of Youth.. |

Sorry for the interjection.
But it is very interesting. Scavs no ill-will, but this gambler,s "rage" stuff is interesting. Other posters have clearly displayed it. And of course we see it at the track all the time. I think a beer...errr cookies and milk would help all concerned. All you guys basically seem like good peeps to me. Pillow will now strike me upside the head with a tire iron. Excuse the sap Mr. Pillow sir. |

Adriano put up two nice looking performances. One on Turf and one on Poly. His turf race looked good but he did settle behind a really fast pace before he took the race on his own and won by 8. His Lanes End Race he won in hand and just shook off his competetion. He may not like dirt if the FOY tells me anything but who knows what happened that day.

There are cases where horses get perfect setups running from the rear: these would be races contended on the front end, and followed by middle moves, that ultimately collapse. There was a 2 horse duel in that turf race. NOTHING else ran. Adriano closed 'on his own' and he WIPED OUT the field. In other words, while he was drawing off the last split, EVERYTHING else was going backwards. To say that he got a good setup would be to miss the point. (To look at complicated races, as those on the turf typically are, only in terms of how fast the splits are, would also be missing the point; but we really don't want to get into that.) We need, at a minimum, to be able to distinguish between those races where horses run exceptionally and those where they get good setups, and run well as a result. |

Recency and no perspective. Once the Derby is over, about 15 horses will be crowned "rats" after people have goo-gooed over them for 90 days. |

A thread on Adriano is on the verge of reaching 3 pages. There is no hope for mankind.
